This classic wedding dress has an unusual story. Elizabeth Ayers created the dress as part of a collection she produced over twenty years ago. It was for a couture collection but had never been worn, and somehow ended up in a local bridal charity shop in Pembrokeshire, where it was found by the bride-to-be.
She loved the dress and wanted to find out who had originally created it, then saw Elizabeth’s name on the label. After a bit of searching online, she found the Elizabeth Ayers website and made an appointment with us to have it altered to fit her better. We realised that it would need new bodice panels fitted, but by a stroke of pure luck we still had the gold lace in stock from the original dress. We were able to make the necessary alternations and the bride-to-be was delighted with the result. Not only did she find her dream dress in an unusual place, but she was able to give a new lease of life to a dress that had never been worn.
It goes to show that fashion really does go around in circles! While some styles may look dated in a few years, a simple, classic dress will always look fabulous. If you’re on a budget for your wedding it’s always worth looking into second-hand options, and there are many stores that specialise in pre-owned dresses, or in this case, ones that haven’t actually been worn. A professional like Elizabeth Ayers can then alter the dress to fit you, and you will end up with an amazing, tailored dress that looks like it was made for you.
